South Africa's legislature or parliament is made up of two houses. The National Council of provinces, which has 90 members, and the National Assembly, which has 400 seats. Political Landscape
The ANC has played the majority role in parliament and is the dominant political party ever since the end of the apartheid. This political party is in an alliance with South African Communist Party and the Congress of South African Trade Unions. The ANC is identified by a social democratic party. This party focuses on trying to reduce the social and economical divide the was cause by the apartheid. To decrease this divide, they have made many affirmative action programs. These programs include, the Black Economic Empowerment. This program creates racial quotas for business ownership. Many places in South Africa offer to follow the customary law. This focuses on tribal traditions and culture.

Government and the People
The government struggles with South African's large crime rate because they don't have enough people in the police work force to cut down these rates. The rights and freedoms of each person is respected and is not usually taken from the citizens. The government receives lots of bad lashes because they are accused of corruption and wasteful spending. The elections are free and fair, and they allowed citizens to vote at the age of 18. Turnout of registered voters for the parliamentary government will exceed 75 percent most of the time.

Personal View
I view that this government is very logical in the way it runs. It seems to be a very fair and free government, at least on paper. The only thing that I would change would be who votes for the leader of the country. The National Assembly votes for the president, so if your not on the National Assembly your vote will not go towards voting for the president.
